Dual education in cooperation with DXC Academy

The DXC Academy and its predecessor organizations have been training IT specialists in the fields of application development and system integration since 1998. Soon a first training cooperation was founded, in which different companies from different industries train together. Meanwhile the training cooperation exists at several locations in Germany.

The IT professions were reorganized in 2020, adding "Digital Networking" and "Data and Process Analysis" to the existing specializations.

The concept stands out against a classical training: The vocational school phases take place in joint classes, the practical phases in the respective company, supplemented by meaningful seminars. The seminar contents are jointly determined by the partners of the training cooperation at the start of the training. Further events round off the two-year training.

The training cooperation is coordinated by the DXC Academy, so that the trainees always have a contact person during the vocational school and seminar phases.

Benefits of a training offer

Training is a challenge!

The learning objectives defined in the statutory training regulations for information technology professions have created an extremely demanding occupational profile.

If a company wants to meet the complexity of these requirements, the trainers are strongly challenged:

On the one hand, the open framework curriculum gives the companies providing training a great deal of leeway when it comes to implementing the occupational profiles for their own interests, but on the other hand, it requires those responsible for training to do the detailed thematic work.

Since the IT market is subject to constant change, training content must be adapted to the new requirements every year.

Professional competence in core topics of information technology is available to a limited extent at vocational schools. Supplements are necessary e.g. in customer, project and requirements management, in modern development methods such as SCRUM, in developments in complex environments such as SAP or z/OS and especially in the development of personal and social skills.

The trainees must be integrated as apprentices into the ongoing project business in such a way that both projects and trainees benefit from it.

Within the framework of a demand-oriented training plan, we impart all required skills in practical seminars.

Our experienced trainers and consultants from the field ensure that the know-how is always up-to-date, especially in IT topics.

The costs of these supplementary services are shared by the cooperation partners, e.g. for practice-oriented seminars or project simulations.

The knowledge implemented in project simulations lasting several weeks ensures that trainees are already capable of acting and can be used productively during their training.

Our cooperation partners decide for themselves which scope of services they want to use. The spectrum of services offered ranges from individual seminars to the complete handling of the training.

Demand-oriented additional training

Do you prefer to organize the training in-house, but want to offer additional qualifications or close specific gaps? The DXC Academy also offers all training components as individual seminars.

Exam preparation

Through many years of experience in training and participation in various examination commissions of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce, the DXC Academy is very familiar with the tasks of the final examinations. Against this background, we offer intensive exam preparation in the form of face-to-face seminars and self-study phases. If required, we can also implement these virtually.

Phases of the education

Trainees in cooperation learn together!

The training cooperation brings together trainees from different companies in different industries. Trainees from all fields of study learn together in the seminars of the DXC Academy. Our many years of experience from our dual program have shown that this is a significant success factor for the future of the prospective IT specialists, because many contents are interdisciplinary. The trainees not only learn in their companies, in the vocational school and in the seminars, but also from each other through the exchange of experience within the group.

Procedure of a regular training

The vocational school teaches the general theoretical basics.
The training company is responsible for teaching the company-specific contents in theory and practice.

Procedure of the dual training of the training cooperation

The DXC Academy takes over a part of the theoretical and practical training.
The training period is reduced to 2 years without loss of content.

Vocational school phases

Apprentices of the cooperation attend joint classes in the vocational school.
The DXC Academy works in close contact with the vocational schools.

Seminar phases

Learning together in seminars, which are coordinated by the DXC Academy From special topics in the area of application development and system integration to project management and soft skills, the seminars cover everything that is needed in later professional life and to pass the IHK examination. The seminars are specially tailored to the needs of the training companies and the requirements of the current market.

The practical phases take place in the respective training company.

Teambuilding, an important part of the training for the prospective IT specialists. Practical experience in teamwork is necessary for further development. Through active learning in group work and joint experience, further course is set for the step into a successful professional life.

In team training lasting several days, they learn what effects the lack of important success factors has. In the process, the trainees receive feedback on their behavior and impact. This enables them to compare their self-image with that of others through reflection. To create great memories for our trainees, we look for new challenges and locations around team development year after year.

Network meeting

One highlight of the year: Our network meeting.

The network meeting brings together trainees, training officers and managers from all companies involved in training cooperation, project managers and trainers from locations throughout Germany. This is where we hold the finals of the Academy Apprenticeship Award.

Visit to the fair

In the course of the first year of training, the trainees are given a research assignment to find a topic at the cutting edge of technology and to question and test it thoroughly. The results are presented to a jury in the form of a competition, the Academy Apprenticeship Award.

Together with their project managers and the companies' training officers, the prospective IT specialists visit an IT trade fair. There they have the additional task of making contact with various companies, finding out about innovative topics and getting to know the latest IT trends.
